1970 HT Kingswood

This 1970 HT Kingswood was purchased unseen at a storage shed company clear-out auction, so there was a bit of uncertainty about exactly what condition it would be in when it arrived.

The car was originally fitted with a 253 V8 and automatic transmission. I sourced a good second-hand engine and transmission and fitted them, then worked through the rest of the mechanical side of the car, including tidying up the wiring and sorting the smaller jobs needed to get everything working properly.

Only a small amount of rust was found, and this was professionally repaired. The fibreglass front guards that were on the car were also replaced with repaired steel guards, bringing that part of the body back closer to original specification.

The five steel rims were sandblasted and repainted before being fitted with whitewall tyres, which suited the period look of the Kingswood.

The car is now much closer to being back on the road, although it still requires re-registration before the project can be considered complete.
