1984 VK 308 Manual

This 1984 VK 308 was purchased some time after its previous owner had moved to Australia. By the time I acquired it, the original GM four-speed manual gearbox had already been removed, leaving the car needing some mechanical work before it could be put back on the road.

Rather than replacing it with another four-speed, I fitted a five-speed Toyota gearbox behind the 308 V8.

The car also had rust that needed attention, including around both the front and rear windscreens and in the boot floor. These areas were repaired, along with the necessary brake work and a general tidy-up.

Once the mechanical and rust repairs were completed, the VK was able to pass a WOF and return to the road.

The project isn't completely finished yet. It still requires further panel work and a new paint job, but the important mechanical and structural work has been completed and the car is once again usable while the next stage of the restoration waits to be done.
